140 Entertainment and Jonathan Jones Pictures are pleased to announce casting information for the role of Captain Robert April. Filming for the episode titled "Wounds of War" is in-production. Filming for the chosen actor will commence in June 2013. The upload window for the pilot episode is aimed for Summer 2013. Please read the information packet carefully prior to submitting.
Casting:
- CAPTAIN ROBERT APRIL - late 40s-early 50s - M - leading role - Caucasian Captain April is a very easy-going person, with a casual attitude toward the members of his crew, often only calling them by their first names. This trait has been frowned upon by various members of Starfleet, stating a need for respect and discipline aboard a Starship. One of the people most bothered by this is one of April's oldest friends, George S. Kirk, Sr., who is a noted Starfleet Security Officer, and is to become April's "Number One", even though he doesn't particularly want the job.
Robert April is often seen wearing a Cardigan sweater around the ship, even on the bridge at times. He suffers from a rare blood deficiency that causes him to feel chilly most of the time, regardless of the temperature. Sometimes he will wear a thermal layer under his uniform, but not often. His command attitude is rather casual, but he expects the job to be done, and done right. He treats everyone with respect, and almost like a best friend, but if you cross him, or fail to follow his orders, you will definitely see a change in temperament. His accomplishments since becoming Captain, have earned him the right to pick his own crew. And he is commonly given a wide berth by Starfleet Command. There are times when April has and will ignore orders given to him by his superiors, if he feels his option is best. He doesn't have a problem listening to suggestions from his command staff, and can see that he doesn't always have the right answers. But, once his mind is made up, it is final, and no one is to push him any further.
Synopsis: STAR TREK: ORIGINS is a fan-created web series that will be delivered exclusively via the Internet. The series was created in 2007 by Michael Dempsey and is based on the original Trek television series created by Gene Roddenberry in the 1960s. STAR TREK: ORIGINS, aka STO, is set in the year 2233 and features several legendary characters from the Trek universe. Many of these characters have only been mentioned by name and never seen on screen. STO is set in a time where Starfleet has become complacent and has fallen on tough times due to countless years of war in the not-too-distant past. Starfleet is lacking in new technology, ships and equipment. The ships are outdated and in many cases outgunned by most of the Federation's enemies. The highest ranking officials within Starfleet are fully aware of the situation but after suffering heavy losses of lives, ships and equipment during the Earth-Romulan war, most efforts and resources were concentrated on rebuilding Earth's cities and infrastructure. The war ended in 2160 when a peace treaty was signed between Human and Romulans, which created the neutral zone, an area one light year wide between their respective territories. With the declaration of open hostilities with the Klingon Empire in 2218, Starfleet now finds itself outmatched on the technological front against an aggressive enemy. Recent starships designs have failed to meet Starfleet's expectations and many retired ships have been forced back into service. The U.S.S. Tiberius is one of those ships but the Klingon's have the upper hand and border ambushes are frequent. The Federation is not prepared for another war…
